Finished projects and website updates

I feel like it's been forever since I've posted about knitting. Truth is, I've just been really busy, but I've got some completed projects to share with everyone now!

Above: This was my first ever attempt at a hat, and it came out so cute! It is a preemie baby hat I made for a woman in RCIA who is going to be a first time mom in May. She's actually due in June, but they think there is a chance she will have to go early, hence why I made the had for a preemie. This is made from the Plymouth Baby Dream Baby DK yarn . It was very easy to knit up and I did it in just a few days. It was great!Above: Basic dishcloth made of 100% cotton chenille yarn.

Above: Don't Mess With Texas cloth. Not a very good photo of it. Check out my webpage for a better one.Above: A purple washcloth made from the "Spa Sets to Knit" book. It was a VERY easy cloth.
Above: A yellow cloth made from the "Spa Sets to Knit"book. Both this and the purple were made of Sugar and Cream yarn, a 100% cotton yarn that is excellent for cloths.

I had some pictures of some other cloths, but somehow they got lost in the shuffle. I will have to take them again later today and post them.

Also, I FINALLY updated my webpage with the start of some available yarns and patterns. Currently, I am only displaying dishcloths, which are for sale for $5 each or 3 for $12. Hopefully I will be getting back on the ball with that, and getting some things knitted for the upcoming craft fair season.

Catching up some more

I feel like there isn't much new to report, but at the same time, I'm sure there is. I had a job interview on Monday for the Child Advocacy Center position. I think it went pretty well, but I'm pretty sure I didn't get the job, as I didn't hear anything from them all week. I'm okay with that though, because I am still loving teaching way too much to leave it.

I've subbed in Laconia every day since Tuesday this week. On Thursday one of the special ed. teachers came to me and said that if I needed a letter of recommendation, she would be happy to write one for me. Another special ed teacher said that I should really "try looking for a job at a school that you and John can commute together." Meaning the middle school. So hearing things like that really makes me happy, because it means that I'm doing the right thing, and making the right choice to move into the teaching realm. Its amazing what being at a job you love can do. I've never felt it before, and it's the best feeling in the world to actually love getting up and going to work! I look forward to it, and I'm EXCITED about it!

John is doing well. He had a long week this week, between the concert on Thursday and then the Lakes Region thing yesterday. Two nights in a row he was out late. Next Thursday he has the Educational Fair at the high school that some of his kids are playing at, so it will be another late night for him then. Though, not as late as if he went to his Carter Mountain rehearsal.

I have two more job interviews coming up this week - one of them is in Portsmouth at a place as a volunteer coordinator. The place is an association for blind people. It's only 15 hours a week, but it will allow me to still substitute teach. The other one is for a job here in Rochester at the Job Training place. It would be as a case manager helping other people find and apply for jobs. It's full time, so I wouldn't be able to sub in the mean time, but we do need the money until I can get a regular teaching job.

I guess that really is about all the news from here though... Can't think of anything else!

I'm a little behind...

Okay, I haven't been so good at updating lately, but I've been crazy busy... not to mention, crazy sleepy!

I did NOT get that job at Advanced Patient Advocacy. You know what though? That was okay. I really wasn't upset about it, especially considering I didn't really want the job in the first place. Lately, I've been getting called in to substitute teach like crazy! I was in every day last week, I'll be in every day this week, and I've already been requested for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. I won't be able to take the Monday assignment, which is a little bit of a bummer, but it's because I have a job interview at the Strafford County Child Advocacy Center at 3, and wouldn't be home in time. I could still take an assignment in Rochester though, because I'll get out at 2:15 and would need to be in Dover by 3. Not a problem.

This particular job would be part time, and it is for a forensic interviewer and intake coordinator. I'd hope for more of the intake coordinator responsibilities, because the forensic interviewing is a little more intense than I would want to be involved with. Click here for a job description.

In the off time from that, I could still substitute teach. I am loving this teaching thing, and it's been such a great thing for me! I come home at the end of the tired, but in a good way. I don't dread getting up and going to work like I used to. I love going in, making a positive connection with some kids, and really feeling like what I'm doing is good. I know I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was given my Alt. 4 eligibility in about 6 different subject areas, and I just recently received my Alternative 5 eligibility for K-6 and K-8 (two completely different things, though they sound the same), and I am SOOOOOO excited! I'm starting to look for teaching jobs, and I'm trying to come up with some people that may be willing to be a mentor teacher for me. So far, I haven't come up with anyone yet.

I switched on to a new med for anxiety about 2 weeks ago. I was taken off my Wellbutrin and put on Effexor. It's made such a difference for me! I think between that and finding a job that I love really has made such a positive change in my life that I'm practically beside myself. I haven't been home sick, or wanting to refuse a position in several weeks, and when I had a cold last week, I still went to work, even on the day I didn't have a voice, and was able to kick the cold in a week! I've never been able to do that!

I told John today when we were laying on the couch after getting home from work that I am really content right now. I am just happy with where I'm at, with our house, with the way the weather was today, with our pets, with everything! I'm so ridiculously optimistic now, and I LOVE IT! It's been such a long time since I've felt this good. My dad called me tonight and said "We haven't heard from you since Sunday, so I figured I'd just call to say hi!" When it dawned on me that it was already Wednesday, I couldn't believe how long it had been since I called my parents. Again, that is a good thing! For anyone that's known me the last few years, you know I couldn't go a day with out calling my parents, so going several days without doing it is HUGE.

Anyway, I feel like I'm gushing, or rambling, or both. I'm going to go downstairs and work on the last dishcloth I'm knitting for a dishcloth exchange with some Weight Watchers women!

The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

Personality
You are more logical than emotional, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more religious than atheist, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more traditional than rebel, more artistic mind than engineering mind, more idealist than cynical, more follower than leader, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are religious (80%), romantic (57%), greedy (55%).

Stereotypes
Young Professional100%
Old Geezer100%
Hippie78%
Life Experience
Sex25%
Substances0%
Travel25%

Politics
Your political views would best be described as Conservative, whom you agree with around 39% of the time.
Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 58% less than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG.
By the way, your hottness rank is 52%, hotter than 75% of other test takers.

Here we are, back at square 1

I am positive now that I did not get that job at Advanced Patient Advocacy. I never heard from them. I guess I'm kind of relieved. At the same time... I really need a job! There's nothing opening up that I can find! Go figure - the jobs I DO really want are the ones that aren't even calling me back, and the ones that are calling me back are jobs I'm not sure about.

Today I mailed out an application to work at the Strafford County Child Advocacy Center which is down in Dover. It's a part time position, 24 hours a week, which is a-ok with me! So we'll see how THAT goes! It was kind of a fluke that I found it, so maybe it is fate. Who knows. I'm about to browse through the edjobsnh.com website to see whats there. I'm waiting to hear back on my appeal for my Alternative 5 certification so I can be hired to teach elementary school. Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

I didn't get called in by Rochester to sub at all this week. I suppose that is both a curse and a blessing. John was home on vacation this week, so it was fun to spend the week with him. But at the same time... we really need the money!

*Sigh*

Anyone want to give me about $10,000 to tie us over for a while?

Oh yeah! Get this - I got a message on MySpace the other day from my ex-fiancé. Weird! He was all like "Yeah, I'm married now, we're expecting our first child in about 7 weeks. I am working at a bank and writing some stuff for Stephen King [note: he wanted to be a screenwriter and director, and he lives in Falmouth ME]. So things are going awesome" etc., etc., etc. So I e-mailed him back and said "Oh, yeah, well I got married too, we bought a house, I finished college, life is good" That kind of thing.

Apparently, he and I got married the same month of the same year. I'm just glad that it wasn't to each other!

Oh, and here is the update from Luna's Knits:

You're probably all thinking that I've fallen off the planet or something! Not true! I am still here. I've been working on some misc. projects, nothing really noteworthy, but I will be posting some photos up soon. I finished the baby hat and a baby poncho for someone and will post pictures. Also, I've been working on some dish cloths for the dish cloth exchange I am participating in. Some of them will be patterns for my upcoming available "bath sets" that I will be selling... once I get some of them made up! They are quick knits, nothing should really take more than a day or two, so I am happy to get them going. I will keep you posted when they become available.

My website is now up and is, for the most part, fully functional. Please visit me online at http://luna.radiantknights.com

Since the weather is so crummy today, I have been doing some off and on knitting, but am going to go finish up the dishcloth I am working on now, so I can cast on the next one! Sometimes I'm grateful for bad weather and snow days!
