Hitting up the gym again!

Sorry, no new photos of Hannah to post today. Not because I don't have any, but because I'm too lazy to take them off my camera, which is upstairs.

Nope, today I re-joined Planet Fitness and got in my first "real" workout since April of 2007! It felt so good to get on the treadmill and run and use the weight machines again! I'm starting to train for a 5K road race again, the same race I was starting to train for last spring when I found out I was pregnant. I had to stop running then, because I hadn't been doing it long enough for it to not be a huge strain on my body. So it felt good to start back into the running program I was doing, and I'll do the first week twice, just to get back into the swing of it. Plus, I'm looking forward to having an opportunity to get out of the house a few times a week after John gets home from work. The 5K gives me something to work towards, while hopefully losing some weight in the process!

Ran in Hancock, from my parents house doing part of the Run for the Honey 5K route.

Here are my much over due running logs for the remainder of the week. I couldn't run on Wednesday because I had a kid serving a 1 hour detention with me after school, and then John and I went to dinner at a coworkers house. I ended up running Friday and yesterday, but neither were a very good run.

We had the burial for Grandad yesterday. It was very sad, but it's nice to have the closure now. We got to go see his house again yesterday, it will be sad to see so many of his belongings go into an estate sale. All of the grandchildren were able to buy a few things from the estate, so John and I purchased a bureau, a small shelf, a rocking chair and a lamp. I am excited to bring them back to the house! All of our bureaus now are antiques, and three of them will have come from Grandads house.

Today we are having a cookout to celebrate mothers day and the birthdays of my dad and grandmother. It's been nice to be at my parents, too, because my aunt is up from Texas, so it's been great to visit with her and everything.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Almost finished the socks for my grandmother for her birthday! I'll be glad when those are done, that's for sure. Then I'll have to start some for my mom. I'm also crazy busy studying for my PRAXIS II, both elementary ed and social studies. I doubt I'll pass the social studies one, so everyone wish me luck on both! I have until June 9th to prepare...

Still some pain in upper leg, unsure of cause. Stopped after 5 intervals instead of 6.

I went running on Saturday instead of Friday because I was dealing with some pain in my leg that day. Not really sure why, or where it's coming from, but it's not going away, and it's not like anything I've ever had before. If it isn't gone in a week, I'll call the doctor.

I started getting some gardening done around the house this weekend. My parents were supposed to come over yesterday and bring some perennials with them that they were going to give us, but nothing is up enough to do that just yet. So they're going to hold off, and maybe come over on the 19th or the weekend of Memorial Day to do it. In the meantime, I got a small forsythia and planted that yesterday, along with some hydrangea and I got a little herb garden going last night. I'm really excited about it, because I never really thought I was going to like gardening, but I'm really starting to enjoy it. Yet again, my parents were right =)

I haven't gotten much knitting done lately, but for the next two weeks, I'll be subbing in a study hall at John's school. This week I've got to finish the second sock for my grandmother. I've also got to get some serious studying done for my second PRAXIS tests. I'm taking two more, both on June 9th, one for the elementary ed (which I've REALLY got to do well on) and one for middle school social studies (which I'd really like to pass). I'm getting really nervous about both of them, and I feel like I don't have that much time to prepare.

Anyway, that's about all the news from here today. Will check in again on Monday or Tuesday!

Felt a little slower than ususal today. Shin splints developed in both legs now.

Yesterday at my Weight Watchers weigh in, I was up 4.4 pounds. I just about fainted! I was SO close to having lost my first 10 pounds that all I wanted to do was cry! But all I can do is pick up and move on forward again. I have to think that some of it is because of my new running activities, as well as some water retention because of it. Hopefully my system will settle down soon, and I'll be back under control. Of course, eating a Snickers every day won't help either.

I subbed in a 7th grade social studies class today. I wanted to pull my hair out and kill one of the kids today! I've never had such problems EVER. On the up side, I got a letter of recommendation for one of the teachers at Johns school today, and she wrote me a wonderful one! So that makes me feel good.

I don't think there's much other news right now... My parents are coming over on Saturday to help us plant some new bushes and what not, so that will be nice. I'm looking forward to getting some landscaping done around here!

Current Knitting and Running log

Okay, so I finally got around to getting pictures of some current works in progress. They are in this order: A blanket that I ripped out and started again last night; A sock (obviously only one, as the other is on the needles); two photos of an Irish Hiking Scarf. I'm not sure how the cables look, but I'm happy with the way the scarf is coming along!

Running, Knitting, everything else

Hi all... This running accountability thing is working out great, because now I update my blog every other day!

I got a new mp3 player today. I'm SO excited! It's so much nicer to have a little mp3 player strapped to my wrist than have to carry a diskman with me. I downloaded all of the C25K stuff onto it, and since I'm repeating week 1, I'll just take that off when I finish it up. Then I'll have week 2 and 3 on there, and so on. I feel like I'm doing so well with it, I can already notice a difference in the fact that I can last a lot longer when I'm out.

As far as knitting goes, everything was on hiatus while I banged out three dishcloths for Johns mom this week. Today we took her out for lunch because her birthday was last week, and I wanted to give her something. Dishcloths were the fastest thing I could do! So I made a white one with a cross on it, a pink one with "shells" on it, and a red one with an M&M on it. She loved them! Now it's back to work on socks. I will take a picture of the sock I've finished and the scarf I am working on so I can be sure to get them up here by my next update on Friday.

I take my PRAXIS I on Saturday, so I've got to head off and study for it. I'm getting a little nervous, though, which isn't good. I was excited about the idea at first, but now I'm not so sure anymore. PRAXIS II is in June.

I am debating becoming a consultant for Premier Designs now. I've been told twice that I should do it. I e-mailed Janelles sister to see what she thinks of it, but I haven't heard back from her. She's probably busy, with being VERY pregnant and all. But I hope she gets back to me soon. I would think I would enjoy it, since I've been thinking about how much I've missed doing Pampered Chef lately. I don't miss the money I lost doing it, but I do miss doing the shows and everything.

Okay, here's the running log for today:

Running (and various other) updates for today

Wahoo! I broke 1/2 a mile today! I'm redoing week 1 of the Couch to 5K program (C25K) because I started in the middle of the week. I ordered an MP3 player online yesterday, and should have it for Wednesday, so if I postpone my run until later in the day, I should be able to bring my music with me. I think that will help significantly!

John and I completely missed his mothers birthday on Thursday! I feel terrible! Fortunately, she was understanding, and I'll be able to knit her up a few dishcloths as a birthday gift. We're going to take her out for lunch, too, probably on Wednesday.

I am loving being on vacation this week! Unfortunately, I think the yard cleanup trash day is tomorrow, so we've got a lot of work ahead of us for the day today! I'm going to work on the back yard first, while it's still shady out there. Plus, that's the worst of the two. The front yard has been raked already, but during the last couple of storms, we lost some branches on some trees, so we've got to get the little ones that are left all picked up.

Anyway, that's all the news from here, so without further ado, here is my running log for today:

Running and a new scarf

I don't have any photos of the scarf I'm working on right now, and it's definitely not scarf weather at the moment, but I just learned how to do cables, and I am loving this scarf I'm working on! It's called the Irish Hiking Scarf. I can't remember where the pattern came from at the moment, but it is a free pattern that someone sent me. I'll try to get a picture of it up later today.

Also, I went for a run again yesterday. Here's the log:
