Too funny not to share
I just saw this video while browsing around on Facebook, and I though it was too cute not to share! I don't watch a lot of SNL anymore, but every once in a while, I see something that tickles my funny bone a little!

A huge update: "Why Negative Thinking Is Normal", Movies and Knitting... plus other various babblings.
So, I found an article in Parents Magazine that I thought I would share a section of. Part of the reason I'm sharing it is because it made me feel a lot better about some of the negative things I had been feeling since coming up to the end of my pregnancy. These are some thoughts people have had and why they are considered normal, according to the latest issue of Parents Magazine (p. 66):
" 'Almost every mom-to-be has mixed feelings about having a baby,' says Lucy Puryear, M.D., author of Understanding Your Moods When You're Expecting. She told us the negative emotions women normally experience when they're pregnant - but are afraid to talk about.
" 'I hate being pregnant!' Morning sickness, fatigue, and other uncomfortable symptoms can make some women resent those nine months. But you shouldn't feel guilty. 'Just because you don't like everything that goes along with your pregnancy, that doesn't mean you aren't really excited to be a mother,' says Dr. Puryear.
" 'Will I be a good mom?' It's not just first-time moms who worry whether they're up to the job of raising a child. Even if you planned to have more kids, it's still normal to wonder whether you can handle a bigger family once you get pregnant again.
" 'I don't look like myself.' Freaking out about your expanding stomach doesn't mean you're vain, says Dr. Puryear: 'We're used to having control over our body, and it can be hard for some women to give up a little of that control during pregnancy.'
" 'What if my labor is a nightmare?' Most women are nervous enough about giving birth (How painful will it be? What if something goes wrong?), but friends, family, and even strangers can send your anxiety level into overdrive. 'As you get closer to your due date, people feel the need to tell you the worst delivery-room tales!' says Dr. Puryear. It's mystifying and rude - and irrelevant. You never know what giving birth will be like for you until it happens. Remember that most of the time, everything goes well."
So, now that I've read that, I feel much better in knowing that I'm not the first woman on earth to not be totally thrilled with my entire pregnancy, and that it's okay for me to want it to be over and done with (and not just for the benefit of being a mom after the fact).
Moving on:
Saturday morning we spent about 3 hours at the hospital because I was having terrible back pain, but no contractions. I also thought that I might have been leaking some amniotic fluid, but nothing really panned out. I was barely dilated still (only about 1cm - the width of a finger tip), and only about 20% effaced, which is definitely not going to get me anywhere with having a baby, since you have to be 10cm's dilated and 100% effaced. They ended up sending me home with exactly what we thought - back pain. *sigh*
Last night John and I went to the movies with our friend Andrew and saw National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. If you saw the first one, the second one was much the same idea, and very enjoyable! As usual, the first is pretty much always better, but the second one was still really enjoyable too. I'm looking forward to going to see Narnia: Prince Caspian in May. I should probably re-read that book, since I don't really remember it. I've read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe several times, but Prince Caspian only once. There are a few other things that are coming out that I'd like to see also, but I don't think John has any interest in them. I'd like to see Atonement, and I wanted to see August Rush, but that's not in theaters anymore. I'd also like to see I Am Legend, which I keep hearing is really good, but has some scary parts. We were lucky in that we got a gift card to Smitty's in Sanford for Christmas, as well as a coupon book that has coupons for the movie theater in Portsmouth in it - tickets for only $6!
John is home on a snow day today, which is nice. Not that we really do much on those days, but it's just nice having him around for an extra day :-) Of course, it really throws me off on days of the week. Now I keep thinking it's Sunday again, and it's not!
Knitting has been keeping me busy lately. I should put up some of the photos of things I've been working on lately, since they've all been resized in order to put them up on Ravelry. I don't know if people can see my profile or not, but I'll put the link to it also.
(Above) This is the scarf I made for John's sister for Christmas. It is made of Berroco Pure Merino. I was happy with the way it came out!
These are the mittens (above) I made as a Yankee Swap gift. Unfortunately, I don't think they were as big a hit as I had hoped.... They were made from Lions Brand Wool Ease Chunky.

These (Above 3) are things I made for the baby. The hats are the "Baby's First Hat" pattern from Blue Sky Alpacas and the booties are a pattern that I found online. They are all made from the Blue Sky organic Cotton.

(Above) This is my "Jiffy Beret." I made it for me, because I don't knit things for myself all that often. However, I tried to knit one for my mom, and it didn't come out all that great, so I am considering giving her this one, and I can make myself another one that is a little "slouchier" *grin*

(Above) Another Blue Sky Alpaca pattern - This is the hat from the "Three Piece Baby Set" pattern. I like the way it came out, more or less, though I had some issues with the decreases. Also, I would like it better if it were knit in the round, instead of on straight needles with a seam running up the back. I feel like the pattern could look a lot cleaner that way, but until I figure out how to adapt it, this will have to do! I'm also working on the blanket from this set, but have no photos of it as of yet, because it's not very far along.
I also want to take a minute to share some photos of some things people have knit for me for the baby. I got a great baby sweater from Laura and some adorable bibs from Tina! Since I can't get our Yahoo! Group to put them in the album - some issue I'm having with my ISP talking to Yahoo! - I figured I'd put them here so people can see them!

This is the sweater from Laura. Her words on it: "The baby sweater was made from Debbie Bliss Cashmerion dk (I'm so sorry, I thought I put a ball band in the package!) and it's the Crossover Jacket in her book "Simply Baby". I modified the closure a little bit though (not in the knitting of it just in how I finished it)."

These are the bibs from Tina. They are so cute!
I think that will do for now with all of my latest knitting endeavors. I'm not sure what else I have to share, since I feel like my life is an open book these days! Hopefully later this week I'll be back to put up pictures of my new little one in some of my knit creations, but until then...

Feelin' hot, hot, hot!
Today John and I went out with Chris and Kim to go to the movies, we saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest. It was wicked good! I love Orlando Bloom. Johnny Depp is a good actor too, but I LOVE Orlando Bloom. Overall, I thought the movie was pretty good, but at the same time, I still liked the first one better.
John and I have been camping out in our basement the last two nights, and probably will be for the next few nights too. We have a futon down there, so we pulled it out, threw a couple of sheets on it it and boom, new bedroom. It won't be a permanent change for us, but it's definitely been nice being cool when we go to bed.
Anyway, that's all the news here...

Weekends are so great!
I just got in from a weekend with my favorite person, and I had so much fun! Friday late afternoon I got to Johns house and we pretty much just hung out for the night. He bought LOTR:ROTK so we watched that (even though we both saw it in the theater). Then Saturday he had to teach a lesson (or so we THOUGHT) and I had to go pick up a song book from Brian. It was nice to see him and Hannah and their baby Ethan over the weekend. I can't believe Ethan is going to be 6 months old this week! Anyway, when I got to the PCAC, John was just out wandering in the hallway, because, apparently, the person he was supposed to give the lesson to went on a camping trip for the weekend. Oops! Oh well. After that, we played tennis, and I totally got my butt kicked (as usual!), 6-1, 6-1. I wasn't playing my best that day anyway. We went back to his house and had lunch, then that night we went to see the 3rd Harry Potter movie. It was awesome! I loved it, and they did a great job with the story... I still think I like the book better in that one though. The 3rd is very complex towards the end, so it got a little confusing in the end of the movie. Anywho, Sunday we slept in, and then went to mass in Durham (Yes, I went to a Catholic mass AGAIN, and I STILL am alive to tell about it!!!), so that was good. That afternoon we were going to play tennis with his friend Aaron, but the weather was kind of iffy so we all opted out. Then he and I were going to go to the playground and let loose our inner children, but by the time we got out to go to the car, it was raining... so much for that idea! So then we just layed around on the couch and talked about all sorts of stuff, then we played video games on his computer. I'm still not much good at video games... I need to get a new controller for my computer so I can practice up! Anyone have a gamepad that connects to a USB port they would like to donate to the less fortunate? :-)
I stayed again Sunday night because I had a doctors appointment in Bedford this morning, and I could go right by it on my way home, so it made life a little easier. Plus it was nice to get to have the extra time together. Things are going wonderfully and my parents think very highly of John. Theresa says that my mom won't stop talking about him at work, so I think that's a good sign :-)
Okay, it's time for lunch. I semi-bailed on breakfast this morning so I am starving!!
Peace!!

Stuff 'n' stuff
I had such an awesome weekend!!! First off, the weather was B-E-A-UTIFUL on Saturday, so that in and of itself was great. But like, Friday night John took me out for a very nice dinner (Chinese!!!), then came over and stayed like... all night. Then Saturday I studied for one of my finals, before being whisked away to the beach for a picnic. Okay, so I was the one doing the whisking away, as I was the one who actually drove to the beach, but John packed all the food so we could have a picnic lunch. Too bad the water was FREEZING!!!!!!!!!! Well, okay, I could stand in it, but if I had actually wanted to swim there, it would have taken me at least 45 minutes just to get completely submerged :-) Then that night, John took me out to see Troy. It was a pretty decent movie, though very long. Then Sunday, believe it or not, I went to a Catholic Mass - and SURVIVED :-) Nahh, there was nothing wrong with going at all, I was just nervous out of my mind... Actually (and don't tell John, although I know he's going to read this), after much thought, I think I may have actually enjoyed it ;-) Just a little toooooo structured for me... Then I went to Johns for lunch and to kick his butt at video games :-) Okay, not really, but he was playing Super Mario, the one that came with the SNES, and I had to show him all of the liddle hidden secrets, so that was fun. Then I came home to study some more for todays final (which is all over now!), and he came over last night to watch Harry Potter - can you believe he's NEVER seen HP before??? I think it was far to advanced for him :-)
I'm just still in a state of shock about the fact that he and I have now been dating for a month (yesterday!). I can't tell if it feels way longer or way shorter, but at any rate, it's going very well.
And today, I'm already done with my final for the day, so that's good... I'm going to start studying for History soon, but I'll have to run to Wal-Mart later to get some more printer paper... Tomorrow it's all over and I'm on summer break! YAY!!! Too bad it's a 6-8 pm final :-(
Okay, that's enough for today. Stay happy all!
