New Sewing Machine!!! WOO HOO!!!

Today I managed to get my hands on a new sewing machine. Well, new to me, but nonetheless, new. I am so excited! My favorite crafting blog ever, Ruffles & Stuff, has had some super cute projects that I'm dying to try. The one I'm the most anxious to make I can probably do pretty soon - Tiny tights to knee high socks. I think these are so adorable! There are a few other ideas that are super cute from that blog, so I'm totally sold on trying a few of them out. I think I might be raiding my daughters sock drawer looking for her old tights tonight....

New favorite website

Okay, I just discovered an awesome new part to Etsy, courtesy of Etsy's page on Facebook: Etsy's Recently Listed Items page. It just keeps going and going and going.... It's like the Energizer Bunny of craftiness (or nerdiness, I'm not sure which).

In the course of watching this, I've seen some amazing items pop up (and it's taking a lot of restraint to not click on that "buy" button!) that I just think would be incredible to own.

I may have to start my Christmas shopping early because of this page. Granted, it's probably not a bad idea to get it done early anyway, so I don't have to think about it when the final push for gift buying is on!

I would strongly encourage all of you to check it out!

Movin' On

Yesterday, I awoke to discover that our sump pump had overheated and failed because of all the rain we'd had. There was an inch of water in our basement! Now, for those of you that don't know - we have a finished room in our basement, which is where our computers are. Fortunately for us, nothing was ruined, and thankfully, I have a wonderful father-in-law who came over to check on things for us while I was at work. He stayed and cleaned up all the water in the basement, along with bringing his portable pump to keep things emptying out while he was there. Thankfully, when I arrived home, there were still only puddles left on the floor.

We've had water issues before, so we've redone the room with a tile floor, mildew and mold resistant sheetrock on the walls and a baseboard that is made out of the same stuff as PVC piping that we painted to match the stain in the room. But, it's still exceptionally frustrating. John came home with a 3/4 hp pump, and man, I've never seen anything suck water out of our basement so fast! That was great!

Anyway, now I'm moving on from that disaster and going to highlight some of the good things from yesterday.

First, I met a woman named Meg, who, like me, runs an Etsy shop called Sew Cute! by Meg. She's got some really adorable things! We met because she purchased one of my pendants from my shop, and she lives here in town. Rather than pay for shipping, we agreed to just meet. She seems like a wonderful person, and she's got some adorable products in her store! I'd encourage you all to check them out!
